If you’re a first-time writer, and you’ve yet to complete a manuscript, you may have had the experience of writing something, and getting stuck halfway through.
Our idea of our story is rarely the whole story. It’s not that our idea is incorrect, it’s that it is incomplete. The challenge for the first-time writer is to loosen his grip on his idea in order to trust his unconscious to lead him to the deeper truth in the story.
When we trust our impulses, and allow our story to emerge, in spite of the fears that we are doing it all wrong, our story has a chance to live, and we move closer to becoming published first-time novelists.
